| dawSYNC replaces the function of the now-defunct Rocket Network's "Rocket Power" application. It allows multiple users to collaborate together on a song project within the multitrack recording software that they decide to use. Here at jamwith.us, we mostly use Cubase VST. Other multitrack recording software (heretoforth referred to as DAW's) such as Logic, Cubase SX, N-Track and Cakewalk Sonar should theoretically work with the system. We encourage you to try starting sessions with the DAW of your choice and if we have it, we'll try it with you! |
This is a instruction for the use of the older DAWsync - Also if you want to install the Jamwith.us client here is some worthy information of how it works. To get help about Jamwith.us Client read this.: To use dawSYNC: 2. Install it with the help of this dawSYNC Installation Walk-thru 3. An interactive dawSYNC Menu Help reference explains all of its functions in full techy detail. (you need Flash to use it) 4. Once you have dawSYNC installed and the Test Song studio info loaded in dawSYNC, and your Cubase VST ready, continue onwards to the dawSYNC Usage Walk-Thru: I. Receiving your first Session 5. When you have recieved the Test Song, you will then learn how to Archive the project and receive a second one in the dawSYNC Usage Walk-Thru: II. Switching to a new Session |

The
overall concept is this: someone starts a session and uploads it to an ftp
site through dawSYNC. The session starter then lets his friends know where
the session is located. Other users then connect to that "remote"server,
get the session, add their parts to it, and send their parts to the server.
The software uses a "take turns" type strategy by locking the
project until the most recent recipient of the project either sends their
parts or releases the lock. |
